About Us

Our Story

Andrew and Bek began to dream about starting a church over 15 years ago, however it wasn't until 2019 that this began to be a reality. They wanted to lead a church that was known for authentic relationships and for reaching the people of Brisbane with the life-giving message of Jesus. They took a step of faith in starting the church with no team and no financial support and have been blown away by God's goodness. Sunday morning services were launched in late 2020 after COVID lockdowns and since then the church has grown and lives have been changed for good. We invite you to come and experience it for yourself.

Our Leaders

Andrew and Bek have been married for 20 years and have three amazing children. Andrew grew up in church as the son of pastors and missionaries to Thailand. He had a powerful encounter with God at around fifteen years old that gave him a love for Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Word of God and people. Andrew has served in leadership, both as a volunteer and staff, in churches of all sizes for over 20 years. Prior to this, Andrew had a successful career in Sales and Marketing in Sydney.

Bek walked into a church for the first time in her early 20s experienced life with Jesus in her 20s. What stood out to her was how warm and friendly people were, that's why she is so passionate about creating spaces where people can belong and enjoy relationship with God and other people. Bek has a successful career in insurance and finance and is passionate about her kids and connecting people at City Lights.

They are both passionate about building an authentic and friendly church, seeing families and communities thrive and experiencing renewal in the city of Brisbane.

Church is a group of imperfect people responding to a personal revelation of Jesus. We believe that healthy churches are places where people can BELONG, THRIVE and SHARE.

The Family Table

BELONG. We learn about each other and what it means to follow Jesus in relationship with each other. Our community grows as we extend the family table and create spaces where people belong.

Thrive

The Garden

THRIVE. We are building something that is organic and alive and flows from the inside out. We learn how to grow spiritually by connecting with God and others.

Our Mission and Values

Following Jesus for the Renewal of our City

We exist to see renewal. Renewal happens when ordinary people experience the life and love of Jesus and start the beautiful process of changing from the inside out. We exist to see this renewal overflow into every area of our lives, our homes, our workplaces and our communities.

Our Values

1. Jesus is our only Way

We see renewal as we learn to think, act and love like Jesus (John 16:6)

2. People are our Purpose

We create spaces where people belong (Eph 2:19)

3. Love is our Motivation

We love to give and give because we love (John 3:16)

4. Discipling Leaders is our Calling

We disciple and release leaders to influence every area of society (Matt 28:18-20)

5. Presence is our Pursuit

We passionately and persistently seek to encounter God (Matt 5:6)

What We Believe

We believe in one true God who is eternal and Creator of all things. He co-exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He loves all and wants to be in relationship with us.

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word and through it God speaks today. It is inspired, authoritative and everlasting. It is total truth and provides us with patterns and principles for every area of life.

We believe that sin has separated all of us from God and only God can provide a remedy.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ came into the world as our Saviour. Jesus died on a cross and rose from the dead and all who repent and believe in Him can have forgiveness and eternal life. As believers we are baptised in water by full immersion as a public declaration of our faith in Jesus.

We believe that God’s Spirit both indwells and empowers the believer. The Spirit-filled life gives us the ability to live with Godly character and provides us with spiritual gifts that enable us to fulfil God’s purposes on Earth.

We believe that the church is the ‘body of Christ'. As we meet together regularly, in both large groups and in homes, we grow in our faith, fulfil the great commission, and build long lasting relationships.

We believe in miracles.

We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back.
